Vankleek Hill Fibre Frolic 2

The Vankleek Hill Fibre Frolic is looking for volunteers: would you like to help?

The 3rd annual Vankleek Hill Fibre Frolic is steadily taking shape, with vendors and instructors lining up to provide an excellent event for visitors, full of fibre-y goodness!

This year, the Vankleek Hill Fibre Frolic takes place on Saturday, September 24, from 10am to 4pm, at the Creating Centre (11 High St.) in Vankleek Hill and at Indigo Hill (26 Main St. E.), mere steps away from the Creating Centre.

Our vendors this year include:

Roots & Rain Yarns

HolmebodyKnits

Les Belles Bouclettes

GROAdesign

Karberry Farm

Indigo Hill

Cup of Kindness Tea Company

Of Field & Forest

More news about additional vendors to follow!

Besides our fabulous marketplace, visitors to this year’s Fibre Frolic can also participate in workshops upstairs at the Creating Centre (details TBA). Throughout the day, we’ll have fibre arts demonstrations taking place outside Indigo Hill and in the large picture windows of the Creating Centre.

Want to help? We’re currently looking for volunteers in the following roles:

Door greeters

Vendor assistants (helping to unload cars during set-up and tear-down)

Instructor assistants (helping instructors unload cars and set up their classroom)

*We welcome local high school students to log volunteer hours by helping out with our event*

We’re also looking for:

Volunteer fibre arts demonstrators: we would love to schedule a day’s worth of demonstrators who each take on a one-hour block, sharing their skill and love for their craft with others (for example, hand-spinning – drop spindle and wheel – weaving, macramé, basketry). Demonstrators wouldn’t be leading a class but serving as “performance artists,” ideally working on a craft that is visible from a distance.

If you’re interested in volunteering at this year’s Fibre Frolic, please send an email to Andrea: [email protected]
